MISFITZ vs PUBG: Black Budget. Mobile-Native vs PC-First Extraction
If you came here looking for PUBG: Black Budget, you probably want to know what happened to it and whether it was ever coming to mobile. Both answers are below, along with how its design compared with MISFITZ. The two games came at extraction from opposite directions, and that contrast still explains what extraction on mobile needs, so here's the honest read.
MISFITZ (Antihero Studios) is a social extraction game designed for mobile from day one. Its pre-alpha reached 83,500+ players, and players who died were 6% more likely to start a new run than players who extracted. The Alpha is complete. PUBG: Black Budget (Krafton) was a PC-first extraction title. Its development ended on October 1, 2026, after two Steam closed alphas, and a mobile version was never announced. If you want extraction built for mobile, that's MISFITZ.

Mobile-First vs PC-First
The fundamental difference isn't tone or tactics. It's the starting assumption. MISFITZ was designed for mobile. PUBG: Black Budget was designed for PC. Had it ever come to mobile, it would have been an adaptation. That's not a bad thing, but it is a different thing.
Every mobile-native design decision in MISFITZ (top-down perspective, runs of 2.5 to 7 minutes, auto-aim, alliances built for the way people play on mobile) was made because we were designing for mobile first. None of those decisions are easy to retrofit onto a first-person PC extraction game designed around longer raids, keyboard precision and tactical realism.
Arena Breakout and Delta Force already bring PC-style extraction to mobile, with first-person shooting, longer raids and deep gear systems, and both have big audiences. MISFITZ goes the other way: top-down, short runs and alliances with strangers.
What Happened to PUBG: Black Budget
PUBG: Black Budget was Krafton's dedicated extraction title, built for PC. It ran a closed alpha on Steam in December 2025 and a second closed alpha in June 2026. On October 1, 2026, PUBG Studios posted a development update on Steam saying it had made the difficult decision to end development. It never got a release date, and a mobile version was never announced.
Krafton owns PUBG, and PUBG Mobile is one of the biggest mobile games in the world, so a mobile Black Budget would have been a major name in mobile extraction overnight. We took that possibility seriously. It's off the table now.
For the rest of the field, see how today's mobile extraction shooters compare. MISFITZ is built around short social runs, and it's coming to the App Store and Google Play.
The Bottom Line
If you're tracking new and upcoming extraction games on mobile, cross PUBG: Black Budget off the list. The question it leaves behind is the one this page was always about: what does extraction look like when it's built for mobile, rather than adapted from a PC game? MISFITZ is our answer. Our essay on the future of mobile extraction shooters takes that question further.
Build friendships, or break them.
83,500+ played the pre-alpha. High-tension extraction in runs of 2.5 to 7 minutes, with Relics worth the risk. Sign-ups are open.
