MISFITZ vs Escape from Tarkov: Mobile-Native vs Hardcore PC Extraction
There is no Escape from Tarkov on mobile. Battlestate Games has never shipped one, and the game that defined the extraction shooter genre is still PC only. MISFITZ by Antihero Studios is a social extraction game built for mobile. One is a premium, hardcore PC game with deep systems and raids of 20 to 50 minutes. The other is free, plays with two joysticks and auto-aim, and runs 2.5 to 7 minutes at a time. Same genre, different philosophies.

The Game That Defined the Genre vs a Game Built for Mobile
Escape from Tarkov defined the extraction shooter genre. MISFITZ is extraction built for mobile. They share the loop of drop in, loot, extract or lose it, and differ on almost everything else: complexity, run length, platform, price and where the tension comes from.
Tarkov, from Nikita Buyanov's team at Battlestate Games, is a hyper-realistic military simulation. Players manage hunger, hydration, blood loss, fractures, and dozens of other survival mechanics. Weapons have hundreds of customizable parts. There is no minimap, no kill confirmation, and no hand-holding. The game hit 1.0 in November 2025, launching on Steam after years on its own launcher. It ranks second on our list of the best extraction shooters of 2026.
MISFITZ, built by Brice Laville Saint-Martin (6+ years as art director on Clash Royale at Supercell), Frank Yan (senior game designer on Brawl Stars at Supercell), and Andre Parodi (technical director on Candy Crush at King), keeps the stakes and strips back the systems. You loot Relics, dodge Zero's Trashbots and can team up with strangers mid-run, then decide together at the extraction point whether you leave as a team.
Raid Length vs Run Length: 20-50 Minutes vs 2.5-7 Minutes
A Tarkov raid lasts 20 to 50 minutes depending on the map. A MISFITZ run lasts 2.5 to 7 minutes. That gap shapes almost everything else about the two games.
Tarkov's long raids create a slow build of tension. You creep through buildings, listen for footsteps, manage your inventory in real-time. The danger ramps over the course of the raid until extraction becomes genuinely nerve-wracking.
MISFITZ compresses that tension into a few minutes. In Antihero Studios' pre-alpha, 83,500+ players averaged 50 minutes a day across 3 sessions, and players who died were 6% more likely to start a new run than players who extracted (80.5% vs 74.5%).
Complexity vs Accessibility
Tarkov is famously deep. Players learn ammunition types, armor penetration values, medical items, map layouts and extraction points over many raids. That depth is the point for Tarkov's audience: mastery feels earned because the learning curve is steep. If you want that kind of depth on mobile, look at Arena Breakout, a Tarkov-style military FPS.
MISFITZ is quick to pick up: one joystick moves, one aims, and auto-aim helps on a touchscreen. Pick one of the six MISFITZ characters, drop in, loot Relics, extract. A lot of the depth comes from people rather than systems: who you team up with, and whether you leave together.
Monetization
Escape from Tarkov is a premium game, sold in several editions, from about $50.
MISFITZ is free to play, with in-app purchases.
Choose MISFITZ If You...
- Love the idea of extraction and want something you can pick up in a few minutes
- Want extraction on mobile (Tarkov is PC only)
- Liked Escape from Duckov's top-down take on the loop and want it on your phone, with other players
- Prefer social tension (alliances, trust) over military simulation

Choose Tarkov If You...
- Want a deep, realistic military extraction experience
- Enjoy mastering complex systems (ammo types, armor, medical)
- Have a gaming PC and dedicated time for 20-50 minute raids
- Appreciate the weight of risking real gear you earned over hours
- Are happy to buy a premium game (from about $50)
- Love a steep learning curve
The Bottom Line
They aren't really competitors. Tarkov asks for a gaming PC, a lot of learning and 20 to 50 minutes a raid, and gives you a deep military simulation in return. MISFITZ asks for a few spare minutes on mobile and gives you extraction tension in runs of 2.5 to 7 minutes, with alliances between strangers built into the game.
Tarkov proved how much tension comes from risking your loot. MISFITZ adds another kind of stake: deciding who to trust.
