MISFITZ vs Brawl Stars: What's Different?

If you're looking for games like Brawl Stars, MISFITZ shares a few things with it: a top-down camera, stylized characters and pick-up-and-play controls. Frank Yan, one of Antihero Studios' co-founders, was a game designer on Brawl Stars. But MISFITZ is not Brawl Stars 2. It's a different kind of game, a social extraction game built around getting out with your loot, not eliminating everyone else.

Where the Team Comes From

Antihero Studios was founded by a former Clash Royale art director, a former Brawl Stars game designer and a former Candy Crush technical director. It's an independent studio, and MISFITZ is its own game: where Brawl Stars is built around competitive matches, MISFITZ is built around extraction stakes and the alliances you choose.

CEO Brice Laville Saint-Martin spent 6+ years at Supercell, as Art Director on Clash Royale and then Creative Director. CPO Frank Yan designed meta and monetization on Brawl Stars, and CTO Andre Parodi was Technical Director on Candy Crush at King. Today they run a team of about 11 people in Barcelona. How they got here: from Brawl Stars to MISFITZ.

Brawl Stars rewards reflexes, teamwork and mastering your Brawler in short competitive matches. MISFITZ adds another question: not only "can I outshoot this player?" but "should I team up with this player?" Your pick shapes that answer too: MISFITZ characters double as a social signal.

The Alliance Mechanic

In Brawl Stars, enemies are enemies. In MISFITZ, every alliance is temporary, and the extraction point is where it gets tested.

Any of the 16 players in a run can become a teammate for a few minutes. You team up, clear a street of Trashbots together, share the Relics you find and cover each other on the way out. Then, at the extraction point, you both decide whether you leave together.

That moment of trust is what creates the stories players share. It's what Antihero Studios means by Games Worth Sharing. For us, that's where building a gaming brand starts.

If You Love Brawl Stars, You'll Love MISFITZ

MISFITZ is not a replacement for Brawl Stars. It's a complement. The familiar top-down perspective and pick-up-and-play controls will feel like home. But the extraction stakes, the Relics you carry and the people you meet give every run something to lose. If you play ARC Raiders too, our piece on games like Brawl Stars and ARC Raiders shows where MISFITZ sits between the two.

Our pre-alpha backed it up: players who died were 6% more likely to start a new run than players who extracted. When there's something to lose, "one more run" comes naturally.
